Karrie Pavish Anderson – Resident Advisor
Karrie Pavish Anderson, born and reared in Anchorage, Alaska, is enjoying her third year working with Alaskan teens in Galena as a Residential Advisor. Karrie is the daughter of Stephen Pavish of Willow, Alaska and Star Pavish of Salinas, California, and the granddaughter of Stan & LaVerne Pavish, Lonnie Blevins and Ron Downey, all of Washington State. As a graduate of Anchorage Christian Schools and the University of Alaska Anchorage, Karrie is an Alaskan committed to imparting to young people the values of service, education, the arts, critical thinking, healthy choices, the spiritual life and strong family bonds, thus giving them tools to succeed in life.
Karrie's passions can be generally summed up as faith, family, friends, music & nature. Specifically, these include singing and playing the piano, spending time with her husband Patrick Anderson who also works at GILA, praying, hiking, berry picking, investing in youth at GILA and at Galena Young Life, and hanging out with her sister Kim Kopp and brother David Pavish while discussing favorite topics from grammar to scripture, from health to music. Since moving to Galena with Patrick and their dog Sabbath, Karrie has also enjoyed visiting with community elders and learning about the variety of cultures represented in Galena.
This year at GILA, Pavish Anderson heads up the student service group Hands & Feet, The Three Week Choir, O Snap!, S3, as well as random popcorn, tea and sing-along parties in her room on Olin Hall. Blessings to you from Galena, Alaska.
